Our Focus

A growing body of research is challenging the paradigm that pesticides target only the “bad” pests and mostly wash away in the rain. In reality many pesticides, including neonicotinoids, kill a wide variety of insects and reside in the soil for years. Every subsequent year’s pesticide application contributes to a broader saturation of toxic chemicals in the environment, and a hollowing out of entire ecosystems.

We are witnessing a dramatic loss of bees, butterflies, mayflies, caterpillars, lightning bugs, other invertebrates, and birds from pesticides–with no economic or environmental benefit. Research and data, from large academic institutions (Cornell, UConn) to government agencies (USGA, EPA), link the disappearance of pollinators and wildlife to pesticides.

Connecticut Pesticide Reform Coalition works with community advocates, partners, lawyers, legislators and policy experts. We defend our water, air, wildlife and people who live here from the harms of pesticides contamination. We are united in our effort to reverse the deleterious health effects of pesticides on pollinators, wildlife and humans.

For the upcoming 2025 session in Hartford, our focus will be to call on state legislators to enact a law that will reduce neonicotinoids in our environment, similar to our neighboring states, like New York.
